Avril released her first album in 2002 and it hit the charts at number one position and made Avril one of the youngest most popular debut artists in the industry. Although it hailed number second in the US charts but in UK and Canada and Australia it was number one for several weeks after it’s released. Her album lets go, is a mixture of pop mixed with the alternative genre and the grunge. This album reached multi platinum status in august and was made into a triple platinum in another two weeks. It sold around 6.6 million copies in the US only and 16 million worldwide. From the album four singles were charted number one in the charts in Australia. The album under my skin was her second album and was released in 2004 and was charted number one in USA and Hongkong, Japan, Canada, Argentina, Spain, Ireland, Thailand, Korea and it sold around three million copies. This album has a alternative feel and has punk edges to the songs. Some of her songs solo went onto been number one in many countries and got her nominations for the artist of the year. Her last album up till now is the best damn thing which was released in 2007 and its song girlfriend reached number one soon after the release along with the album. These songs have also been used by the Japanese talk show as their theme song and it sold around six million copies worldwide.

Avril comes from a very devout Baptist family. Avril Lavigne grew up in Ontario Canada and was born to Judy and john Lavigne.
